this hearing. on both sides of this issue. you know, for me, it has been sort of a very, very interesting experience to go through this process for the last year and a half. and i grew up catholic, so i am mindful of why certain people, you know, have certain views on this. and i certainly consider myself prolife. but i believe that being prolife does not mean that you don't respect the right of women to decide for themselves what to do with their body. and that is what this is about. that you can still be for choice, and being for choice does not mean that you are in any way, you know, against the dignity in the protection of human life. but, we are talking about here is that the fundamental right for women to decide for themselves whether to have an abortion but to access healthcare and i was very moved in particular by the very personal comments of women,
10:42 am
sharing their own experiences and their own personal histories, with planned parenthood. it is very moving to me, and i think that it is, i really appreciate the fact that people and these women are willing to share that with us. >> and you know, i hear, some of these anti-choice activists and i respect the right to express themselves and talk about how we should support women. well, i want to make a couple of observations. what is really striking to me about what we have seen is that, the very people who are saying that it is a simple, you know, peaceful protest, that there is really nothing harassing going on, are not afraid to point out that when, and ladies and gentlemen, who gave a copy of this picture, you know, who describe someone taking a picture of the protestors of the 40 days for life folks, as harassment and intimidation, i think that those were the words that he

used. and yet, there is no out rage over the fact that for the last year and a half, there has been video taping of every women and every individual who goes into this clinic including the workers. where is the out rage and it is really interesting to see that that was standard. that the very people who are not afraid to intimidate and harass are the first ones to say my rights are being violated. well it does not work that way. you cannot talk about protecting your own rights if you are willing to infringe upon the rights of other people. and something else that really bothers me to be honest is someone who represents a very diverse district where we have, you know, certainly some wealthy folks and we also have many, poor, working class, middle class women. is that when you see the protests that you see, the anti-choice, protests, they are not happening on in
